What Cyber Essentials actually involves

Cyber Essentials is a UK government backed certification that shows you have the basics of cyber security in place. More and more clients, insurers and public sector contracts now ask for it before they will work with you.

It covers five technical controls: firewalls, secure configuration, user access control, malware protection and patch management. None of it is exotic. It is the set of sensible defaults that stop the large majority of common attacks.

The assessment is a self-assessment questionnaire, verified at the Plus level by a hands-on technical audit. The honest answer to most questions is either yes you do this, or here is how we will put it in place. That second part is where we come in.

We prepare you, fix what needs fixing, and take you through certification, then keep you compliant year on year. For most businesses the underlying work pays for itself the first time a client asks to see your certificate.
